Long Beach Segway Tour

Today we're going on a  real adventure . . . a Segway Tour of Downtown Long Beach.  Only four of us were brave and daring enough to tackle this little escapade.  The rest of you missed out on a very fun day.  Hope the photos will entice you to come along next time . . . . and there WILL be a next time!

First things first . . . Our guide (I'm so sad that I have forgotten his name) signed us in, fitted us with helmets, showed us how to operate the Segways, and then had us practice up and down the sidewalk outside his office until we were all comfortable and secure.  And then we were off to see the sights of downtown Long Beach.

It was a perfect day, a little overcast at first, not too hot, not too cold, just right for our Segway Adventure.  As we were riding along, our guide was telling us stories about the history of the area and some of the sights along the way.  As we cruised along, we were enjoying the scenery . . .

We talked to a gentleman who was hanging out by this statue.  Turns out he was in the Navy during WWII and has his name on one of the bricks around the statue - pretty cool.  Asked if we could take a photo with him, but he quickly disappeared.

All too soon, our adventure was over and we had to turn in our Segways.  They offer these adventures all over Southern California, and we definitely want to do this again - and hope the rest of you will join in next time.

We had a nice lunch in the Naples area, and then topped that off with some ice cream as we strolled along some of the Naples Island canals  . . .
